Internal crisis affecting Barcelona
The win over Athletic club was supposed to bring some level of tranquility over the growing tension at club of recent but the current situation at the club looks beyond that as there's seems to be dissention between the Barça locker room and the board over several reasons.
Barcelona's CEO Oscar Grau comment over approaching Messi contract situation with common sense and Pique's recent protest over the quality of officiating the club have been receiving of lately has not gone down well in the Blaugrana's dressing room.
"We must use common sense when it comes to Messi's contract negotiations," Grau said on Wednesday before the match.
Grau's comments have drew criticism amongst the players and some section of Camp Nou who are clearly not happy with his remark.
"We must renew Messi, forget about common sense," Suarez responded after Bilbao game.
Furthermore Grau said the board have spoken with the captains and with Pique and explained the club's will, which is to not talk about referees.
However in a conflicting report the Catalans sporting director Roberto Fernandez was clearly in support of Pique's comment on referees.
On another note the player's decision to snub The FIFA Best award ceremony in Zurich on Monday was not fully embrace by board who were reportedly not happy with the situation.
Issues such as Messi contract renewal amongst others shouldn't be discuss publicly they should be taken care of internally and the fact its now gaining public stance will apparently destroy the good image of the club.
