Messi's Brilliant Free-kick Rescue Point for Barcelona

Who gets the blame the referee or Lucho; it's still a no win for Barcelona in 2017, as Villarreal extend our wait for a win in the opening league match of a calendar year for the third season in a row.

The Camp Nou side were forced to a 1-1 draw against the Yellow submarines who were on the verge of sealing the three point before a moment of magic from Barca talisman Lionel Messi; who scored a sublime last-minute free kick to cancel out Sansone's opener at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

When Pep suggested Man city are no bigger than Villarreal he was not exaggerating, Blaugrana dominated possession in the first 45 minute but was unable to convert any of there chances as Villarreal shot stopper pulled off a couple of fine saves for his side.

However in the 50th minutes Nicola Sansone who was a constant threat to the Barcelona defence put the host ahead from a through ball assisted by Pato. Barcelona continue to pile more pressure on the host in search for an equalizer as Messi hit the woodwork and an appeal for penalty after a hand ball by Bruno was denied by the referee.
Luis Enrique decision to completely drop Ivan Rakitic from the squad still baffles me his replacement have little or no effect in the game, as well as Suarez whose performance has been dropping low of recent, and Neymar still battling his goal drought and barça were made to rely on a moment of magic from their mastero to salvage a point.

The result means the Catalans are now 5 point behind rivals Madrid who has a game in hand. Its a big blow for us as this further dent our hope of wining the league, but all hope for the best as anything can still happen
