Barca win at Anoeta after nine years

At last the curse is finally broken.

Playing an impressive Real Sociedad is not what Barca will gladly wished for in Spanish cup quarterfinals after they overcame a tricky Bilbao in the round of 16.

The blaugrana have finally break the jinx of not having a win since May 2007 at the Anoeta stadium after they defeated a stubborn La Real side in the first of the Copa del Rey quarter final.

Barcelona started the match intensely as they try to control of possession in the early minutes of the game and were rewarded for their excellent start with penaltybin the 20th minute after a poor challenge from Elustondo on Neymar who converted from the spot. The host however enjoyed the lion share of possession in the first half as Barca sat back a little more after Neymar's goal.

A cautious Enrique decide to substitute Iniesta for Andre Homes at the start of the second half presumably due to injury. The put on more pressure in search of the equalizer but were unable to get a goal.

Barcelona on the other hand missed two clear opportunities  via Neymar to extend the lead. With 20 minute of play remaining Denis Suarez replaced Ivan Rakitic as Lucho's men took control of the game on their opponent as they weren't causing them any problems at the back. Barcelona now have an important one goal advantage ahead of the return leg that is scheduled to hold next week.
